PETEY is a Labradoodle.. He found himself in a bad situation. He was diagnosed with Diabetes and his Senior owner was unable to care for him properly.
The only solution was for the owner to have him Euthanized…. He had an appointment at the Vet Clinic …. BUT, one of the staff members contacted us and we agreed to take Petey here to save him from that fate BUT, the owner had to agree to that.. AND HE DID!!
PETEY is here at ISHAS and we are in the process of getting him regulated on the amounts of units of his insulin dosages. At first PETEY did not want to eat, he had to be hand fed. BUT, with his glucose levels getting better & better he is now eating out of his bowl on his own. PETEY’S tail will wag the minute he feels you are in the room. Notice I said FEEL.. PETEY cannot see you, he is blind. Yes, he has some strikes against him, BUT PETEY DESERVES A CHANCE AND A HOME! I mean just because he has been dealt a bad card with his health issues does not mean he can never have a home. He gets 2 injections of Insulin a day, and he needs to be led on a leash next to your leg due to his lack of sight. Big Deal !
PETEY knows sit – stay – give paw and he loves to be held and snuggle up close. HE HAS QUALITY OF LIFE – HE JUST IS A SPECIAL NEEDS GUY, He needs a home and family who are trained (or are willing to be trained) in the needs of a diabetic – blind dog.. That is all. PETEY is also a member of the SUGAR BABIES.. So when he gets adopted all you need to do is contact that organization that provides MANY items used for diabetic doggies and 24 Yr. on-call question line directly to a Vet. How awesome is that?
PETEY is 7 Yrs. old and weighs 79 Lbs. He is an absolute JOY to be around.. PETEY is also totally potty broke. He minds his own business when around other doggies. I just cannot say enough about this guy. HE IS AWESOME. AND GENTLE.
THERE HAS TO BE A FAMILY WITH A HOME FOR PETEY. HAS TO !! OH ! AND HE LOVES TO RIDE IN OUR VAN AND JUMPS RIGHT INSIDE – ALL ON HIS OWN!!
