INFO ON ROXIE Our VERY SPECIAL diabetic girl.ROXIE had a bit of a sad past... She had never been to a Vet until she became sick.. The reason she was sick was because she was diabetic.. She was examined and treatment for her diabetes was explained to the owner... The owner refused to treat ROXIE and opted to have her Euthanized... Our Vet was able to have the owners surrender ROXIE to the Vet Hospital.. Then the call came to ISHAS to help. We have had so many diabetic doggies and know the routine. ROXIE has now been with us for 3 months and getting her glucose under control was a battle..... Then something strange happened....ROXIE has a normal Glucose!!!! She has not had any insulin for a month !!! Her glucose remains normal... Now, we know that at some point she will become diabetic again - so she needs to be tested daily to see when and if she will need insulin. ROXIE WAS overweight - not anymore, she is on a special diabetic dog food. She is at a perfect weight. She is happy and healthy... She is only 7 Yrs. old and a PERFECT Lady.. She is totally Potty Broke and LOVES PEOPLE. We are now beginning to socialize her with a few other doggies... ROXIE has been a trouper through all of this.. She is up to date on Vaccinations and will SOON be able to be spayed. ROXIE is a Healer Mix with soft gentle eyes... YOU WILL LOVE HER WHEN SHE HUGS YOU. ALL she ever wanted was to be LOVED.. we LOVE her.I have NEVER seen a dog become non-diabetic .. it is VERY RARE. But ROXIE is special ya know! Between ROXIE and PETEY (another diabetic doggie) we are going through A LOT of Glucose Test strips for our Pet Test glucometer... Donations for test strips would be GREATLY appreciated. If YOU want to order test strips for them - the last picture is the kind of test strips we need # 50 at a time AND the Glucometer we use. These are sold through many places including Amazon. This OLD guy needs to be in a home for his remaining yearsToday I would like to explain about our little RICHI.... RICHI landed into a dog pound.. taken there by a lady who THOUGHT he had been hit by a car.. X-rays & Exam revealed he was NOT hit by a car. His lower Jaw bone is missing …When he arrived at ISHAS he was a mess - He would not eat, he was skinny, and had the Canine Coronavirus, his rear end was very weak. We got to work on him immediately.. RICHI is 16 1/2 Yrs. old.... Well, he is running all over the Lobby with 3-4 other dogs.. HE LOVES TO EAT.. he is fed three times a day and boy-oh-boy you better not be late feeding him.. I swear he has a Timex Watch to know exactly when feeding time is. He has many missing teeth and fistula's from where his Canines were previously removed (or fell out) … all is healing. RICHI IS A HOOT! Everyone that meets him says he looks like a little Opossum - WE think he is adorable ABSOLUTELY adorable... RICHI weighs 8 Lbs. and we have NO idea what breed he is.. perhaps SOME Terrier? BUT THIS SWEET LITTLE FRIENDLY GUY NEEDS A LAP to sit on... or prance around your house staring at you.. He is very nosey. So What do YOU think ?? Got room for this special senior guy ? His fur is VERY soft !OHHHHHHHHH RICHI !!!! ... See MoreSee Less
