ROXIE was surrendered to our Vet. Hospital because she was diabetic.. Owner was going to have her Euthanized but our Vet felt differently and asked ISHAS to take her.. Owner agreed and I personally went to get her from the Hospital…. She WAS overweight AND diabetic and YOUNG 5 Yr. old Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler).. ROXIE weighs 46 lbs. and is up to date on all Vaccinations. She gets Simparia Trio monthly. NO fleas & ticks for her !
WE ALL LOVED ROXIE from day one but had quite a struggle getting her regulated on insulin.. FINALLY she was regulated and healthy enough to be spayed… Once spayed and hormones leveled out … ROXIE DID NOT REQUIRE INSULIN… She became non-diabetic .. From the Vet..= The ONLY dogs that can self regulate their glucose is a SPAYED female.. ROXIE has been checked regularly to make sure her glucose levels are normal- – AND THEY ARE. She has no problem with maintaining a normal glucose.. We feared the diabetes would return but nope! Roxie is a healthy HAPPY gal who LOVES attention and LOVES to play ball in the yard.. YOU WOULD LOVE her demeanor .. She knows sit – stay and will show you her belly for scratches .. She will plop on your lap for snuggles.. TOTALLY POTTY BROKE! Not one mistake in her Condo Kennel EVER !
SO, no need to list her as a “DIABETIC” DOG at this time.. OR special needs…
We are unsure if the diabetes will return as she ages… but we do not think it will.
SHE DESERVES a loving home now.. Don’t you think?? She is a miracle gal!
all glucose testing and instructions will be provided to ROXIE’S new home free of charge..
LOOK into her soft loving eyes and excellent body condition … YEP a miracle baby. Please consider ROXIE as your new household member… She also LOVES to herd … That is the Cattle dog in her… Must have enough space for her to run – play fetch and get the exercise she loves.
