LUCY is a very small little Chihuahua.. so, you know she is here and you are thinking.. WHY? WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER?
AND, you are not far off… because each & every one of our precious ones comes with a story of their past.. LUCY is diabetic and her owner could no longer care for her properly.. LUCY only weighs 6 Lbs. and when she arrived her glucose reading did not register on our glucometer.. It read only HIGH. Noww, comes the battle to get her regulated to a normal level. We were able to do that by monitoring her closely.. She is NOT a fan of being restrained so we had to figure out a trick of getting her attention OFF of being held still .. Covering her eyes seems to help.. We are able to get glucose readings and give her insulin without causing her undo stress.. LUCY has been given the vaccinations she needed and she will be going to our Vet early next week, but we are in constant contact with our Vet Hospital about her.
LUCY can be a little snappy (when she SEES a needle).. we are over that.. You cannot grab her.. Gentle hands ONLY. She has been placed on a special diet for her diabetes and she LIKES it !! SCORE ONE!
LUCY is a little snuggle bunny & loves to be FREE.. Not a HUGE fan of her Condo Kennel, but safety first..
