Well!! As of this morning we are officially PACKED TO THE BRIM WITH special needs doggies... helllppp!![]()

We kind of over-extended ourselves by saving the "Thrown away" special doggies..... Every Shelter & Pound we work with has the exact same problem - SAD BUT TRUE.. Every phone call we are getting wants PUPPIES... ISHAS does not take in or house puppies unless they have special needs. ![]()
Just this morning an adopted dog was returned to ISHAS . . .why? Seems he liked it better at ISHAS then in his new home.. That is ok.. We love him and he is perfectly comfortable here with all of his ISHAS FRIENDS... I have no idea WHERE we will put him, but will figure it out. ISHAS will be his home forever if he never finds one. He LOVES to greet all that enter our lobby and is a PERFECT representative of ISHAS.. a SENIOR guy who wants nothing more than to please people... You might have met him at the boat show ?![]()
Until some of our dogs are adopted to their furever homes - we cannot save more.. ![]()
I personally am taking home 3 new intakes due to lack of space at ISHAS. if you ever wanted to ADOPT your best friend.. NOW would be the time. Please HELP THEM get a HOME... PLEASE go to our Website: Islandsafeharbor.org and take a look at all we have.. Some are still waiting for their Dental Surgery and/or spay neuter.. We are waiting for the day of the appointments with our Vet. So those doggies may or may not be on the Website..but stories and pictures of them will be on our Facebook page. ![]()
I know summer is coming and summer up here on the Erie Islands is busy with campers & tourists . Much Traffic and many people wanting the summer off to play or make more money working in resort areas. Thus,,, here we are with MORE DOGS and LESS PEOPLE to care for them. If you have time to volunteer we would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.. DAY & NIGHT SHIFT IS AVAILABLE. We are also hiring full time. You will need to attend training classes due to dogs special![]()
needs.. You will not get rich working here but being with special needs dogs is a rewarding experience. THINK ABOUT IT PLEASE.![]()
