Well a kind hearted gentleman was admitted to a Nursing Home and He was allowed to bring his Best Friend Rusty to stay with him. The problem? Well Rusty had to stay in a small crate day & night because… Well… he was NOT a fan of the staff or the gentleman’s room-mate. Seems he would growl and try to bite them.. Hmph! – We received a phone call from the administrator of the nursing home for help. The only family member was unable to care properly for him and again kept in a small crate 24/7… NOT GOOD! So… a phone call to our wonderful Board Member Michelle ( with a medical background) AND the mama of ISHAS dogs Ellie Rose AND Winston… Went to pick up the little Chihuahua from the Nursing home. He arrived today after Michelle spent an hour with the doggies daddy assuring him that ISHAS would not put down his best friend and he would have a home here for life if no one wanted to adopt him..
Rusty got here – hopped out of his safety carrier kennel – explored the yard – picked up in our arms- and had a bath. We contained him in a large condo kennel…. not for longggg… All the lobby doggies wanted to meet Rusty and Rusty wagged his tail to get out and meet them too.. He sat by the lunch table while staff had lunch and no issues at all… Rusty has a few issues .. His abdomen is pouchy and he walks with a very unsteady rear end.. But he can get where he wants to with that wobbly butt. He did not like being in a small crate for day after day ! It was not fair to him to have to live like that and now HE WON’T .. We just HAD to help RUSTY and his Daddy .. The family member was going to take RUSTY to a Dog Pound and THAT would not be a good outcome – THIS little guy needs a CHANCE.
HE GOT IT! RUSTY is 11 Yrs. old ! His daddy was a truck driver and found him as a puppy laying on the side of a road. He had him for over 9 Yrs. – heartbreaking….
